Assay to Test the Biological Activity of PTH

Parathyroid hormone (PTH) is a polypeptide-hormone that is produced and secreted from the parathyroid gland and acts as regulator of calcium and phosphorous metabolism in bone and kidney as well as in Vitamin D metabolism in the kidney. Testing the biological activity of PTH can be performed using Evercyte kidney cells or osteoblasts.

Increase of cAMP level in RPTEC/TERT1 cells upon PTH treatment

hTERT immortalized renal cells (RPTEC/TERT1) are treated with PTH and the cellular response is recorded by measuring the intracellular cAMP level.

Increase of cAMP level in osteoblasts upon PTH treatment

hTERT immortalized mesenchymal stem cells (ASC/TERT1) differentiated towards osteoblasts are treated with PTH and the cellular response is recorded by measuring the intracellular cAMP level.
