hTERT immortalized human skin fibroblast cell line

The cells are characterized by unlimited growth while maintaining expression of cell type specific markers and functions such as:

  • Typical fibroblastoid morphology
  • Expression of typical mesenchymal marker vimentin
  • Response to TGFß treatment by induction of α-SMA expression
  • Response to IL17a treatment by induction of IL6 expression
  • Response to IL1ß treatment by induction of IL6 and VEGF expression

Therefore, these cells are the only solution for gene editing using e.g. the CRISPR/Cas9 system when primary like characteristics are of importance.
