LHCN-M2

hTERT and cdk-4 immortalized human myoblast cell line
(source: pectoralis major muscle)

The cells are characterized by unlimited growth while maintaining expression of cell type specific markers and functions such as:

  • Typical myogenic morphology
  • Formation of myotubes
  • Expression of myosin heavy chain upon differentiation
  • Expression of PAX7, desmin, CD56

Therefore, these cells are the only solution for gene editing using e.g. the CRISPR/Cas9 system when primary like characteristics are of importance. Furthermore, in collaboration with The Human Protein Atlas next generation sequencing was performed and data are available for download to support your decision process in selecting cells that are fit for purpose - get these data after log in from our database.
Moreover, undifferentiated together with differentiated cells were part of the ENCODE project
