Induced pluripotent stem cell from urine-derived cells

The cells they show the following characteristics:

  • Typical pluripotent morphology growing in well-defined colonies
  • Expression of Oct3/4, Sox2, Klf4, Nanog, Tra-1-60, Tra-1-81, SSEA3, SSEA4
  • Stable, diploid karyotype
  • Differentiation potential towards cells of the 3 germ layers

Urine is a non-invasive, universal, unlimited cell source that allows the generation of induced pluripotent stem cells from any consenting individual.

iPSCs will be

  • free from human pathogenic viruses HAV, HBV, HCV, HIV, Parvo B19
  • free from bacterial (incl. mycoplasma) and fungal contaminations
  • show a normal diploid karyotype over a period of at least 10 population doublings
  • are characterized for their STR profile
