Stem cells

Stem cells are found in various parts of the human body and play important roles in the maintenance of tissue homeostasis and function. Especially, mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) are in the focus of interest as these cells show a high differentiation degree, immune modulatory properties by direct cell-cell contacts as well as secretion of soluble factors and migrate towards the sites of injury. Thus, MSCs carry an enormous therapeutic potential and model systems to study MSCs and develop novel clinical applications are of importance.

ASC/TERT1 – hTERT immortalized human adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cell line with a differentiation potential similar to the corresponding normal cells.


Wharton´s Jelly derived cells

The Wharton´s jelly represents the connective tissue of the umbilical cord surrounding the the two arteries and the vein. It is a rich source of mesenchymal stem cells with a high therapeutic potential.

Induced pluripotent stem cells

Since the pioneering observation of Yamanaka in 2006 that introduction of certain transcription factors into normal somatic cells can lead to reprogramming into pluripotent stem cells, this technology has emerged as one of the most important tools in modern cell biology.

Evercyte has further boosted this method by the use of urine-derived cells for reprogramming.
Urine cells can be isolated non-invasively from any consenting individual, making them ideal for therapeutic applications as well as research purposes.

Evercyte has developed protocols for the isolation and expansion of cells isolated from fresh urine as well as frozen urine sediments. Both cell preparations show a 100% reprogramming efficiency and generated induced pluripotent stem cell lines express typical markers and functions of pluripotent stem cells.
