hTERT immortalized human umbilical vein endothelial cell line

The cells are characterized by unlimited growth while maintaining expression of cell type specific markers and functions such as:

  • Typical endothelial morphology
  • Expression of vWF and CD31
  • Response to TNF-alpha treatment by expression of CD62E, CD106 and IL6 secretion
  • Response to VEGF treatment by increased proliferation and sprout formation
  • Formation of neoangiogenic webs when inoculated onto Matrigel matrix

Therefore, these cells are the only solution for gene editing using e.g. the CRISPR/Cas9 system when primary like characteristics are of importance.
