Telomerized human umbilical vein endothelial cell line

HUVEC/TERT66 cell line is grown under serum-free culture conditions and therefore complies with the current need for standardized cell systems. The cells are characterized by unlimited growth while maintaining expression of cell type specific markers and functions such as:

  • Typical endothelial morphology
  • Expression of vWF and CD31
  • Response to VEGF treatment by increased proliferation and sprout formation
  • Formation of neoangiogenic webs when inoculated onto Matrigel matrix

Therefore, these cells are the only solution for gene editing using e.g. the CRISPR/Cas9 system when primary like characteristics are of importance.
