Proximal Tubular Epithelial Cells & Podocytes

The kidneys play an essential role in the maintenance of body homeostasis by filtration of blood, reabsorption and secretion of molecules from or to urine. Among the cells that exert these functions are renal proximal tubular epithelial cells (RPTECs) and podocytes.

RPTEC/TERT1 – the only human renal proximal tubular epithelial cell line immortalized by telomerase alone, a widely accepted and published model cell line due to its unique primary cell like characteristics and functionalities.

PODO/TERT256 – the first hTERT immortalized human podocyte cell line on the market, characterized by expression of typical podocyte marker proteins.

PODO/SVTERT152 - hTERT and SV40 early region immortalized human urine-derived podocyte cells characterized of typical podocyte marker proteins.


There are also podocyte cell lines from other donors available!
